Rare Five Northern Kenya Safari

This is an 8-day/7-night's safari that takes you to the rarely visited parks in Kenya. This safari will show you the rare five that include the Beisa Oryx, the Gerenuk, the Masai Ostrich, the Reticulated Giraffe, and the Grevy's zebra. The safari takes you to Mwea National Reserve, Meru National Park, Samburu National Reserve, and finally to the OlPejeta Conservation.

Day 1: Nairobi-MWEA National Park

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative, get the briefing and embark on your 3 hours safari to an undiscovered oasis of tranquility in Mwea National reserve. You are expected to arrive in good time for your check in and lunch.

After lunch and refreshing you will take an early evening game drive within the reserve to show you the best that the reserve offers.

In this reserve, the main trees are the different Acacia species and baobab trees. The main features in the reserve are the meeting point of rivers Tana and Thiba, Kamburu and Masinga hydro-electric dams, The main attractions in the reserve are mammals like the elephants, Rothschild giraffes, Common zebras, Lesser kudu, African Buffalo, Water Buck, Bush buck, Impala, Monkeys, Aardvark, baboons, Genet cat, Hyrax; reptiles like the tortoise, Hippos and crocodiles; different birds species. Other attractions include Boat rides at Kamburu dam, the Hippo Point and Walking safaris.

You are expected at the hotel in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 2: MWEA National Park - Meru National Park

This day, we will take an early morning breakfast then embark on a 5 hours safari to the Complete Wilderness of Meru National park. You are expected to arrive in good time for lunch and later take an early evening game drive.

All the Big Five can be seen and Meru is also well known for its cheetahs and leopard's .Visitors can also begin to see the rare five species like the Grevy's zebras, the reticulated giraffes and the Masai ostrich. Other animals to be seen are the elephants, Bohor reedbucks, hartebeests, buffalos; snakes like the pythons, puff adders, cobras; more than 427 recorded species of birds. Other attractions include: - Former home of Joy and George Adamson and Elsa the lioness; Views of Mt Kenya; Tana river and Adamson's falls.

You are expected at the lodge in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 3: Meru National Park

On this day, you will take an early morning game drive then back to the camp for lunch and have the rest of the afternoon at leisure. You will later take an evening game drive but be back to the camp in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

Today you also have options for a night game drive, fishing or nature walks.

Day 4: Meru National Park-Samburu National Park

Today, you will take an early morning breakfast as we embark on our 3 hours safari to Samburu National reserve. Just like Meru National park, it is less knownand therefore less populated yet rich in wildlife with an abundance of rare northern species.

You are expected to arrive in good time for lunch, check in, have the rest of the afternoon at leisure and later take an evening game drive to show you the best of the reserve.

In this reserve Termite mounds and weaver bird nests are common sights. Some mammals are well adapted to this desolate landscape and therefore found only in this region. These animals include the rare Grevy's zebra, theBeisa Oryx, the reticulated giraffe, the long necked gerenuk also referred to as ‘giraffe necked antelope' and the Maasai Ostrich. Other animals seen are Elephants, Lions, Buffaloes, Crocodiles and hippos dwell inEwasoNyiroRiver and several species of birdlife.

You are expected back to the lodge in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 5 and Day 6: Samburu National Reserve

For these two days, you will enjoy your stay in the reserve with two game drives each day.

Day 7: Samburu-OL Pajeta Conservancy

You will enjoy your breakfast and later we embark on our tour van for a 3 hours' drive to the famous Olpajeta conservancy. You are expected here for lunch and later take a game drive within the conservancy where you will be able to see a lot of wild life.

You will be expected in good time for dinner and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

DINNER AND OVERNIGHT AT THE LODGE

Day 8: OL Pajeta Conservancy-Nairobi

After enjoying your breakfast, we will depart and begin our 3.5 hours trip back to Nairobi. We are expected to arrive in Nairobi in good time for a transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
