Embark on an unforgettable journey to two of Kenya’s iconic national parks: Tsavo West and Amboseli. Starting from Nairobi, this private safari offers a blend of dramatic landscapes, incredible wildlife sightings, and cultural encounters. Travel in a luxurious 4x4 Land Cruiser Jeep as you explore rolling green hills, volcanic lava beds, and the majestic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Over three days, immerse yourself in Kenya’s natural wonders, encountering the “Big Five” and countless other species in their vibrant habitats.
7:00 am. Your driver/guide will pick you up from your place of choice – hotel, residence, or the Nairobi airport.
Settling into your private 4 x 4 Landcruiser Jeep, we’ll make good time on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, viewing the passing local homesteads. We’ll be entering Masai country and you may see the herdsmen tending to their flocks.
Entering Tsavo West, you’ll be greeted with rolling hills and varied landscapes of bush, woodlands, and riverine forest.
We’ll take a lunch break at your accommodation and then set out for sightings of the park’s varied wildlife including lion, elephant, zebra, buffalo, cheetah, ostrich, and much more.
The birdlife here is rich in variety and color – your guide will be pointing out all kinds of migratory birds – goshawks, weavers, starlings, kingfishers, herons – the list goes on.
Another wonderful feature of the park is its protected area for black rhinos – the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary. We’ll visit this 70 sq. km (27 sq. mi) reserve and look for the more than 80 endangered and shy creatures.
Tonight, we’ll relax and have dinner at our safari lodge or tented camp.

While on safari we like to reward ourselves with a dazzling African sunrise. So we’ll be up early with the birds and watch the light breaking upon the park. We’ll be ready as the wildlife emerges from the cover of night into the dawning new day.
Tsavo West shows us many colors and forms – one of the most vibrant is Mzima Springs, a natural oasis fed by an underground spring. The park’s wildlife is drawn to this vibrant waterhole for sustenance. The springs also host many of its own full-time inhabitants like hippos, crocodiles, birds, and exotic species of fish.
This is one of the few spots where we can jump out of our 4 x 4 Jeep and take a guided nature walk along the lush shores.
Now it’s time to head to neighboring Amboseli Park. The short drive will bring the towering form of Mt. Kilimanjaro ever closer as it looms over the reserve.
Amboseli is much smaller than Tsavo West but this just means the wildlife is that much denser and closer. Indeed, the elephant spotting here is said to be the best in the world.
It’s not uncommon to spot lion, buffalo, zebra, cheetah, and smaller game like hyena, fox, jackal, and even monkey and baboon.
With such active wildlife and the scenic form of Kilimanjaro dominating the land, your opportunities for great picture-taking are significant.
As the day edges on, the clouds sometimes obscuring the mountain’s peak may disperse, giving you still more photographic opportunities.
On this second evening of our safari, you’ll settle into your Amboseli safari lodge or tented camp for dinner and the night.

Once again, we’ll be up with or before the sun in anticipation of our final safari day. We may also enjoy a clear view of Kilimanjaro’s summit, weather permitting – a perfect way to begin our day. So, let’s start with a game drive and add checkmarks to our list of “seen” wildlife.
Then it’s back to our lodge or tented camp for breakfast as the sun rises over the park and we plan the mid-morning game drive with our driver/guide.
Grabbing our gear, we’ll bundle into the 4 x 4 for another chance to enjoy the sight of elephants on parade and perhaps lion or cheetah lurking nearby in the bush.
But finally, we must make our exit from the park with one last game drive and head back to Nairobi.
We should arrive in the city by late afternoon and we will bring you to your hotel, the airport or place of your choosing.
